  • 2 cups water or 500 ml
  • ½ cup sugar or 100 g
  • lemon zest, one small piece
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • pinch of saffron filaments
  • 6 medium pears, peeled
  • 1 tin Condensed Milk or 397 g

  • Add water, sugar, lemon zest, vanilla essence and saffron in a large saucepan. Bring to boil and stir until sugar dissolves.
  • Reduce heat then add the pears to the pan, cover and simmer over low heat for 15-20 minutes or until they become tender. Carefully remove the pears and place them on a serving dish.
  • Add the Condensed Milk to the saffron syrup and boil over medium heat for 6-8 minutes or until the sauce reduces and thickens slightly.
  • Spoon sauce over the pears and serve.
